About the TestDaF

• The TestDaF is a standardized German-language exam for prospective university students. Most German-taught programs require TestDaF TDN 4 in all four sections ("4×4"), or an equivalent such as DSH-2 or telc C1 Hochschule.
• The four sections are Reading, Listening, Writing and Speaking; levels are reported as TDN 3, TDN 4 and TDN 5. The certificate does not expire.
• Recommended preparation is roughly B2–C1 German (about 700–1000 hours of study).
• Plan backwards from your application deadline so your certificate is ready before uni-assist.
