How to Register for TestAS: Step-by-Step Guide

Follow the nine screens below in order. Before starting, prepare your passport/ID, a digital passport-style photo, a personal email address and a payment method.

> Note for applicants from Vietnam: For many applicants without a university degree, TestAS is part of the APS procedure. Check APS and university instructions first. If APS directs you through a separate process, do not make a duplicate standard-portal booking.

Step 1: Open the test-taker area

Go to testas.de/en and select FOR TEST TAKERS.

Step 2: Select “Dates and registration”

Scroll to My TestAS and click Dates and registration. This is where TestAS lists dates, deadlines, result dates and registration.

Step 3: Choose an exam date

Read the Exam date, Application deadline, Result and Format columns, then select the arrow in Registration for the appropriate date. Leave enough time before your university/uni-assist deadline: digital TestAS results usually take about three weeks and paper-based results about four. The dates shown are illustrative; always follow the live schedule when booking.

Step 4: Find a test centre in Vietnam

Choose Vietnam in the country field, add a date range if useful and select SUCHE STARTEN. The available centres appear; click TERMINE for the centre you prefer, for example HUST Hanoi or Goethe-Institut Ho-Chi-Minh-Stadt. Check the precise address, not just the city.

Step 5: Choose an available session

Check the session date, Format icon and Verfügbare Plätze (available places). When the session has capacity, click ANMELDEN. A centre may offer only digital or only paper-based TestAS for a particular date, so do not assume that you can switch format later.

Step 6: Create your g.a.s.t./TestAS account

Complete Anrede, first name, surname, date of birth, country of origin, personal email, username and password, then finish the reCAPTCHA. Your legal name must match your passport. The account works across g.a.s.t. services; sign in instead if you already have one.

Step 7: Enter your data, ID, module and language

Enter your address, postal code, city and country. In Identifikation, select the original ID document you will bring on test day and copy its number exactly. Upload a clear, current photo with Foto hochladen. TestAS checks the original document and uploaded photo on the test day; mismatches can prevent admission.

In Testmodul und Testsprache, select the Subject Module your intended degree requires: Economics; Mathematics, Computer Science and Natural Sciences; Engineering; or Humanities, Cultural Studies and Social Sciences. Then choose German or English. The Core section and Subject Module must be taken in one and the same language. For an interdisciplinary degree, ask the university before payment if its requirement is unclear.

Step 8: Review the summary

The Übersicht page recaps your personal data, test date, test centre, Subject Module, language and price. Check every line before proceeding. The €115 shown is the amount in this example; pay the amount shown in your own order. Confirm the privacy policy/terms only after correcting any mistake.

Step 9: Pay and retain confirmation

Complete the billing data, then choose one of the payment options available to you, such as card, PayPal or Alipay. Keep the confirmation email and receipt and verify the completed booking in the Participant Portal. If you need to cancel, do it in the portal before the registration deadline.

After successful registration

Check your email, Spam/Junk folder and Participant Portal regularly. About one week before the test, TestAS/the centre will send or post the key details: exact address, reporting time, exam room, seat or arrival procedure, documents to bring and exam-day rules. The Participant Portal is the final source if any detail changes.

Bring the original passport/ID declared in the booking. For paper-based TestAS, bring a black or blue ballpoint pen; for digital TestAS, be able to access the confirmation email containing your participant number and exam ID. Arrive early.
