TestDaF Speaking (Mündlicher Ausdruck): 7 Tasks, Tips & Strategies

TestDaF Speaking 2026: Seven Tasks, Two Different Task Sets

Both digital and paper-based TestDaF have seven Speaking tasks, take about 35 minutes, and record your answers on a computer. There is no face-to-face examiner.

Digital TestDaF uses integrated tasks such as giving advice, weighing options, summarizing a text, comparing a chart with a stated view, presenting a topic, reporting arguments, and criticizing proposed measures. Speaking time generally ranges from 45 seconds to 2 minutes 30 seconds.

The paper-based version also uses seven university-related situations, but its functions differ: requesting information, reporting, explaining, weighing advantages and disadvantages, describing data, and developing hypotheses. Do not prepare for the digital exam with a paper-format task list.

A reliable method for either version is to identify the exact instruction, note 2-4 keywords, start directly, order your points clearly, and finish briefly. Practice under the official time limit and review recordings for pace, clarity, and task completion.
